The Office of Vice-Presidency for Research and Development, in collaboration with The Graduate Schools of Social Sciences and Humanities, Sciences and Engineering, Business and Health Sciences, is seeking Koç University Ph.D. candidates and recent graduates for a new post-doctoral fellowship program.
This program aims to facilitate opportunities for new and soon-to-be, highly qualified Koç University Ph.D. graduates to pursue their research agendas and bolster their publications as they transition to the job market. The program is open to candidates from all Graduate Schools. Successful candidates will receive a competitive package including stipend, health insurance, and additional benefits.
Eligibility Requirements and Program Conditions:
Ph.D. candidates and graduates, who have received or will receive their diplomas from Koç University Graduate Schools, between May 2019 and August 2020 can apply.
Potential supervisor endorsement will be sought where applicable.
The candidates will have to submit, as part of their application package, a post-doctoral research project proposal. The successful candidates will be required to submit this proposal to the TUBITAK 1001 Research Grant Competition or any other equivalent international research competition in Fall 2020 (Other possible research grant competitions will need to be discussed with and accepted by the VPRD).
The candidates accepted into the program will receive a conditional acceptance. The successful candidates’ postdoctoral positions will begin at the earliest in September 2020, but not before they present proof of their application submission to TÜBITAK 1001 (or equivalents), regardless of the results. Failure to apply to the TÜBİTAK 1001 program (or equivalents) will result in the termination of the conditional acceptance.
The position is for one year renewable up to three years, depending on the planned duration of the project and the success of the TÜBİTAK 1001 (or equivalent) application.
In each Graduate School, an interdisciplinary committee of reviewers will evaluate the proposals and the final decisions will be made in collaboration with the VPRD.
Research statement (max 3 pages): The research statement should explain the applicant’s research agenda, including dissertation research, accomplishments, and plans for the postdoctoral year.
Research proposal draft (see file) (max 10 pages): This research proposal is a draft of the proposal. Successful candidates will be expected to submit to TÜBİTAK 1001 (or equivalents). It has to have clear and logical links with the research statement. The language of the proposal can be Turkish or English (please note that TUBITAK 1001 expects Turkish citizens to submit their application in Turkish and international candidates can use English).
Letter of recommendation from the dissertation supervisor.
Letter of endorsement from prospective post-doc supervisor (if different from the dissertation supervisor and where applicable).
